Lee Roy Selmon's life story blends family football scholarship and volunteerism in the community. He was the youngest son from Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Semon. They had him raised on the farm they owned in Eufala. The second football was that his father was the only of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. All three were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the top lineman for all of the nation. Over the course of three seasons, Roy played as a player, Oklahoma won two National Championships. As a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was awarded an award for his third season in 1975. Selmon is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in educational studies. Lee Roy spent ten hours a week on volunteer work throughout his time at college. Following college, he moved to Tampa played nine years with the Buccaneers was the all-pro 3 times, and began his business career. He began his career in 1988. began working as an Account Relation Officer in the First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. This is why The Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as among the top 10 young men in the country. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch taller and weighing more than 256 pounds when he played in the college level as a player, captained his team throughout 1975. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993 as an Associate Director of Sports. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. The same year, he also was a part of the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma gave it to them.
